The scanner itself is brilliant and really does work great but it is the Kofax VRS software that it is bundled with that goes above and beyond anything else on the market. This software is used to enhance the images that are scanned to improve the image quality.

But the problem is that the software will not run right with Windows XP or 7 that is 64 bits. It needs to be 32 bits.

On a 64 bit computer using Windows XP or 7, the Kofax software is unable to communicate with Acrobat. Most often people will scan to PDF files with Acrobat through the Kofax Twain driver. The 6130 scanner will work on a 32 bit but not on a 64 bit. It’s unfortunate and you won’t find it out till it’s too late.

I have tried all the other scanners including Epson, Xerox, Canon, Visoneer, and Lanier, so I really have prior experience and a history when it comes to scanners.

The Fujitsu fi-6130 is awesome!

This duplex scanner’s feeder is better than all the other ones that I have used. And this includes other scanners that cost the same. The base and cover of the 6130 Fujitsu has rollers that feed the paper out one sheet at a time but spinning at different speeds.

Most document scanners will double or multi feed when it comes to papers that have been folded, like out of an envelope. My fi6130 has not had one double feed. I have been busy using the scanner with File Center Pro software to turn over 1,600 legal files into pdf’s. It works so well and I was so amazed that I bought more and now have 4 total for my office, scanning 8 hours a day with pretty much no jamming or double feeding.

It’s a great investment for the office if you don’t have the time for jamming and double feeding.

I work in a medical office and we purchased the Fujitsu 6130 for scanning charts for our patients when converting them from EMR. It has scanned thousands of pages flawlessly. Because we were so happy, we bought two more. One for the nurses’ station and we have two in the reception area. We use them to scan insurance cards, identification cards, patient’s notes, and reports from the lab.

The 6130 scanner also came with 2 licenses for the Adobe Acrobat full version. Adobe Acrobat works great for making pdf’s. If you bought these 2 Adobe Acrobat licenses, it would cost around $250.

This document scanner also comes with a Twain driver that works with other EMR software on the market. It can easily scan identification cards for patients and insurance cards. Also, with Twain it is possible to use Quickbooks Pro software for scanning receipts directly into Quickbooks.

The Fujitsu 6130 works right out of the box but I highly recommend downloading the most recent drivers from the Fujitsu website.
